Students Should Learn How to Cite Their Sources |
Every school has its own policy against academic
fraud. Students who are caught plagiarizing papers are either suspended or
kicked out of the school. It is a
serious infraction that may cost the student his scholarship or even jeopardize
his future.
In the past years, many students have been
caught for plagiarism. This is a problem not only in the United States but in
other countries such as Canada and the United Kingdom.
Students working Full Time or Part Time Are
Often Caught with Plagiarism
While many students do not want to get
caught plagiarizing, the increasing pressures brought by their work and their
personal life can sometimes take their toll and force students to take the easy
route.
Students who are working full or part-time
while they are going to school are the most vulnerable to plagiarism. Because of their work pressures they do not
have enough time to work on their essays and research papers. They think that they can just search the Internet
for an essay topic and get ideas from them for their paper. In many cases,
though, students unintentionally copy from Internet sources either because they
do not know how to paraphrase or to cite their sources.
According to a student, "It's costing
a lot more for students, so students are forced to work full or part-time while
they are going to school. So the hours that they can dedicate to their
schooling are less. So then it becomes the easy route, 'I'm just going to do a
search on the Internet see what I can find.'"
How to Avoid Getting Caught Plagiarizing
There are always solutions to students’
problems. There are several ways
students can avoid getting caught with plagiarism.
1. Devote extra time to essays and research
papers. Students have to realize that they cannot allot only 5 or 6 hours for
their essays and research papers. More time is needed not only for the research
part but also for the actual writing.
Students need to properly budget their time so more time is devoted for
their essays and research papers.
2. Learn how to Paraphrase and to cite sources.
One of the many pitfalls among students is that they fail to paraphrase and to
cite their sources. If they copy an entire sentence or two from a particular
source they have to remember to cite them properly and include them in their
reference list.
3. Choose your Essay Writing Services
Provider. Not all essay writing services
providers are created equal. There are reliable essay writing companies which
care for their clients. Some companies
appreciate the importance of their client’s papers on their academic careers
and would never do anything to jeopardize their client’s future. Choose these companies.
